Look for sandpipers on this beautiful natural reserve with 213 acreas of pine forests and beach along the Chesapeake Bay. Very limited parking, so get there early. Open 6am-10pm. Leashed dogs allowed but digging in the sand/playing in the water is not! Find more information on their website.

Cruise across the Bay and visit Tangier Island. Tangier Island Cruises provides a ferry service to Tangier Island from May - October. Leaving Reedville,Va at 10 am Arriving to Tangier Island at 11:30 am Departing Tangier Island at 2:15 pm Arriving back to Reedville at 4:00 pm. Find tickets on their website.
Hickory Hollow Natural Area Preserve offers various trees, ravines, swampland, and wetland. Additionally, you have an abundance of birds, wildlife, fauna & flora. The preserve has well marked trails and a small parking area. Arrowed signs and color code on trees help visitors verify/match desired trail with coordinating trail names. Throughout the trails and at the parking area, are informational signs and wildlife listings. Once at the swamp, there is a seating area so you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. Enjoy a day of exploring.
Lancaster is a town with a cute main street for walking. It is about 15-20 minutes away from the house. We have stopped for a meal at "Donna's on Main", which is right next door to "Chitterchats Second Scoop Ice Cream shop".
Chitterchats Ice Cream Parlor has two locations: one in Reedville and one in Kilmarnock. They also have a sister location called "Chitterchats Second Scoop" in Lancaster, VA. Check out their flavors and announcements at https://chitterchatsicecream.com.
